Sexual abuse: DU woman student lodges case against bus helper

A Dhaka University student has lodged a case against a bus helper this afternoon for allegedly verbally abusing her in a local bus on her way to Gabtoli from Manikganj.

The passenger, a student of Geography at DU filed the case with Mirpur Darussalam Police Station under Women & Children Repression Prevention Act, said Faruqul Alam, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station.

Police, quoting the case statement, said that Mamun, a helper of the local bus Shuktara Paribahan got upset when she did not allow him to sit beside her.

Mamun then abused the student verbally, she alleged in the case statement.

Contacted, Darussalam Police Station OC Selimuzzaman told The Daily Star, police has traced the bus.

“We are trying to arrest the bus helper,” he added.
