The High Court today directed authorities concerned of the government to set up breastfeeding and baby care corners at all mills and factories across the country.

The labour and employment secretary and the director general of the Department of Labour were asked to submit separate reports in two months upon executing the order.

Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on a writ petition that mothers feel uneasy to feed their children at workplaces and other public places.

Advocate Ishrat Hasan filed the petition asking the HC to direct authorities to set up breastfeeding and baby care corners at all mills and factories across the country in line with section 98 (7) of the Labour Act 2006.

Earlier on October 27, the High Court issued a rule asking the government to explain in four weeks why it should not be directed to take necessary steps to set up breast feeding and baby care corners at all public places.
