A teenager has committed suicide in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur, blaming her school teacher in a note for taking her answer script away during an examination.

Sumaiya Akhter Maliha, 14, daughter of Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan and class X student of Shahid Faruq Iqbal Girl's High School, was found hanging at her house yesterday.

“Limi madam is responsible for my suicide. She took away my exam script without any reason and gave me poor marks. If you can, take her to a psychiatrist," said a note she left behind.

Maliha's father has filed a case against the teacher, Limi, alleging that she instigated the suicide, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shahjahanpur Police Station.

Maliha's cousin Al-amin said: " She was visibly upset for a few days. Yesterday at 7:00pm she closed the door of her room. Later, we found her hanging from the ceiling."

The principal of the school Delwar Hossein Mijhi told The Daily Star today that, he heard of the suicide and the note. However, he was unaware of the incident before.

It was only a pre-test examination and this would not have affected her if did well in the later examinations, he added.

Meanwhile, the teacher Limi has been arrested and is currently in a one-day remand.
