SC fines cop, engineer for forgery

The Supreme Court yesterday fined an engineer and a police officer Tk 200 each for fraudulent activities in dealing with a case involving a property in the capital's Dhanmondi area.

Engineer Moazzem Hossain and police Inspector Md Shahin paid the fine to the office concerned of the SC as per its directive.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told The Daily Star that Moazzem and Shahin made a fake power of attorney to get an abandoned government house in Dhanmondi.

This is a rare incident that the SC fined a person for committing forgery, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said, departmental proceedings should be initiated against them.
