Savar bank robbery foiled, four held

Hours after a foiled bank robbery in Savar on Tuesday, police arrested four alleged robbers in this connection.

The arrestees are Ashik Hawlader, 26, Akbar Ali, 40, Salim, 35, and Korban Ali, 30.

Officer-in-Charge of Savar Model Police Station Kamruzzaman said eight to 10 robbers stormed into Islami Bank's branch in Savar City Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

When, the robbers tried to flee after looting Tk 1 lakh at gunpoint, people caught one robber, Ashique, with the money and handed him over to police.

Later, following information gleaned from Ashique police conducted drives in Savar and Tongi Housing Building area and arrested the four at night.
