Salesman stabbed dead in Dhaka

A salesman was allegedly stabbed to death by a mentally challenged man in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of Dhaka this evening.

The deceased, Julhas, 50, was a salesman of a construction material shop on Indira Road in the area, GG Biswas, officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, told The Daily Star.

The mentally challenged man stabbed Julhas at the shop around 7:00pm, the OC said, adding that police detained the attacker.

The victim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by one Md Alam, a tea-stall owner, where doctors declared him dead, according to the OC.

The body of the victim was kept at the DMCH morgue., he added.

Masud Raja, owner of the construction material shop, said Julhas was his caretaker and also used to manage the shop.

The attacker, a mentally challenged man, has been living on the streets in the area for around one and half years, the OC added.
