Ruet bus driver killed on campus

A bus driver of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology was killed by unknown assailants on the campus on Monday night.

Abdus Salam, 50, was stabbed in the chest and other parts of his body while he was returning to his residence at the Ruet staff quarters on the campus, said police.

A youth named Nurullah first noticed the body in a pool of blood on a road near Sheikh Hasina Hall, said Ruet security officer Jalal Uddin.

There were bruises on his head too, said Motihar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahadat Hossain Khan.

They found a bloodstained pipe and a mobile phone set on the spot, he said.

“It's a pre-planned murder,” said the police officer.

 Salam's son Hasibul Islam Polash filed a murder case with the police station, accusing unnamed persons.
