Rozina shifted to DMCH

Rozina Akter, who lost her right leg in a road accident in the capital’s Banani area on Friday night, was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) yesterday.

Rozina, 18, was taken to the DMCH burn unit around 12:15pm as she had been suffering from respiratory problems since the morning, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator at the hospital's burn unit, told The Daily Star.

A seven-member medical board will be formed today to observe her health condition, he said.

On Friday, an Uttara-bound BRTC double-decker bus coming from Mohakhali hit Rozina, a domestic worker, while she was crossing the road in Chairman Bari area around 8:30pm.

The rear wheels of the bus ran over her right leg after she was hit by the vehicle.

She was rushed to Nitor immediately after the accident.

Hailing from Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh, Rozina had been working at a house in Banani for nine years.
