Road crashes kill three

Three people were killed and another was injured in road accidents in Dhaka and Chittagong on Thursday and yesterday.

Our Savar correspondent reports, a man was killed and another injured as a vehicle hit their motorbike from behind on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Jorpul area of Savar outside the capital on Thursday night, said police.

The deceased is Lalon Hawlader Razon, 30.

Meanwhile, an unidentified youth, aged around 35, was killed as a truck ran him over while he was crossing a road in C&B area of Savar early yesterday.

The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsies.

Our staff correspondent from Chittagong adds, a two-year-old boy was killed when a goods-laden truck rammed from behind a battery-run rickshaw carrying him and his mother in the city's Cinema Palace area yesterday morning, said police.

Kotwali Police Station Sub-inspector Aktar Hossen said the incident took place around 6:30am while the victims were on their way to Chittagong Railway Station.

The boy died on the spot after falling off the rickshaw, said the SI.

Police detained the truck driver, Lokman, 26, and seized the vehicle.
