Road crashes kill three

Three people were killed and at least 38 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, two persons were killed and six others injured after a truck rammed a bus on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai upazila.

One of the dead is Ashraf, 40, and identity of the other deceased could yet to be known immediately, said police. The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Our RU correspondent reports, a Rajshahi-bound bus from Dhaka hit an auto-rickshaw near the main entrance of Rajshahi University, killing a man and injuring two others, said police.

Mahi Babu Rony, son of Hashem Ali, from West Budhpara area in Motihar area, died after he had fallen down from the auto-rickshaw. The injured were the auto-rickshaw driver and an unidentified woman.

Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds, at least 30 persons were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside canal in Islamabad bus stand area in Sarail upazila.

Sarail Bishwaroad Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Younus Miah said the driver lost control over the Dhaka-bound bus of “Bismillah Paribahan” coming from Moulvibazar. Six of the injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
