Road crashes kill nine

Nine people were killed and 21 others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday and Mondday.

Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, two unidentified women were killed and some 15 other people were injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch in front of Shilpakala Academy in Joypurhat municipality yesterday.

Locals rushed the injured to Joypurhat Modern Hospital. 

In Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat, a ward member of Roykali UP, Ruhul Amin, 40, of village was killed and two other persons were injured as a batter-run three-wheeler known as easy bike collided head-on with a microbus near Kathaltali in Bhaluka on Monday.

Our Madaripur correspondent adds, three passengers of a battery-run three-wheeler were killed and three other people were injured when a bus of Sarbic Paribahan which was being driven by the helper and on the wrong side of the four-lane in Madaripur hit the vehicle before DC Office yesterday.

There died

Two of the dead were identified as Farhad Hossen, 35, of Madaripur Sadar Upazila, and his mother-in-law Sarupa Begum, 55.

Locals took the injured to Madaripur Sadar Hospital.

Our Mymensingh correspondent adds, two persons were killed and another was injured when a pick-up van collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Maria in Kishoreganj yesterday.

The dead were Mofiz Uddin, 50, and Milon Mia, 53, of Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj.

Police seized the vehicles but the drivers managed to flee. A case was lodged.

Our Faridpur correspondent reports, Niamot Biswas, 55, of Chandradigolia village, was killed as a bus of Imad Paribahan ran him over while he was crossing Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Chandradigolia Bus Stand area of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila yesterday.
