Road crashes kill girl, injure three cops

A six-year-old girl was killed as an Indian truck, carrying imported goods, ran her over while she was crossing the road in Benapole check post area yesterday noon.

The deceased was Sonia Khatun daughter of Akter Hossain of Boroachra village. She was a class one student of Boroachra Primary School.

Police said agitating locals detained the truck after the incident.

Meanwhile our Rajshahi correspondent reports, three policemen were injured as a police-van ran into an electric pole at Shah Makhdum Police Station intersection in the city on Rajshahi-Naogaon road yesterday.

The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said Abdur Rouf, officer-in-charge of the station.
