Road crashes kill four

Four people were killed and seven others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

In Nilphamari, two day labourers were killed and another was seriously injured as a potato-laden truck turned turtle on the Kishoreganj-Taraganj road as the driver lost his control over the vehicle at Nitai Point in Kishoreganj upazila.

The deceased were Jamiar Rahman, 26, and Abdur Rashid, 27. Both hailed from Kabirajpara of the upazila.

The three, including the injured Younus Ali, 30, of Thetripara village, were traveling on the vehicle.

In Jamalpur, Rabeya Bewa, 70, of Paschim Amkhawa village was killed and six people were injured as a battery-run auto-rickshaw carrying them turned turtle on the Dewanganj-Rajibpur road in Gulughat area of Dewanganj upazila.

In Narayanganj, Abdul Malek, 52, of Mymensingh, was killed as a bus hit him while he was crossing the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road near Fatullah Shibu Market.

The deceased was a worker of Shahajalal Re-rolling Mill in Shibpur Market area.

Police detained the bus driver -- Mohammad Ismail, 28, -- and seized the vehicle.
