Road crashes kill 6, injure 21

Six people were killed and 21 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

In Manikganj, a newlywed woman was killed and her husband injured seriously as a bus rammed their motorcycle on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Monno Medical college Gate area of Ghior upazila.

The deceased was Priya Akter, 20, of Badbahali village in Tangail.

Her husband Roni Molla, an army man, was rushed to Monno General Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Priya got married Roni, 29, of Putiajani village of Ghior upazila on Friday.

In Natore, three people were killed and 14 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus on Bonpara-Hatiqumrul highway in Manikpur area of Baraigram upazila.

Of the deceased two were Abdur Rahim, 24, of village Khanurbari and Abdul Mazif, 65, of Tangail. The identity of the other who died at Natore Sadar Hospital could not be known immediately.

In Rangpur, two people were killed and six others injured as a bus hit a rickshaw-van carrying them on Badarganj-Rangpur road in Lahirihat area of Badarganj upazila.

The deceased were Zahrul Islam, 43, and Nur Uddin, 48, of Baliapara village.
