Road crashes kill 3, injure 8

Three people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in two districts in the last two days, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Joypurhat, two people were killed and eight others injured as a three-wheeler carrying them skidded off Joypurhat-Dhamoirhat road and fell into a ditch in Mongalbari area of Sadar upazila yesterday.

The deceased are Kawsar Hossain, 50, from Dinajpur; and Manik Hossain, 27, from Chapainawabganj.

Of the injured, Mongli Hasda, 35, Rahat Islam, 18, Delwar Hossain, 28, Rezaul Islam, 50, Mamudul Islam, 45, and Rafiqul Islam, 50, were taken to a hospital.

In Chittagong, a woman was killed as a vehicle hit her in the city's Akbar Shah area on Wednesday night.

Shamsun Nahar, 45, wife of Nur Sayed from Kabir Haat area, died while she was undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said police at CMCH outpost.
