Road crashes claim six lives in five districts

At least five people, including a minor were killed in separate road accidents across four districts.

The four-year-old Urmy Akter was ran over by a truck in Goalando upazila in Rajbari injuring her critically on Saturday, the victim's uncle Delower Hossan told The Daily Star.

The injured child was taken to the Goalando Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared her dead, he added.

In Chittagong, Md Ridwan, 40, and Md Choton, 25, were grievously injured in a head on collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a truck in Patiya upazila yesterday, police said.

The duo was pronounced dead after being rescued and taken to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), police added.

Also in Dinajpur, Abdur Rahim, 60, was killed as a speeding truck hit him at Raniganj area in Ghoraghat upazila, police said quoting locals.

He was killed on spot.

In Mymensingh, Giasuddin Ahmed, 60, was killed when a bus hit and crushed him in Bhaluka upazila on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway killing him on spot, reports our local correspondent.

Meanwhile in Bogra, biker Sarowar Jahan, 45, was killed after he collided with two trucks in Kahaloo upazila, police quoted locals as saying.

A truck collided with him head on while another ran him over, killing him instantly, police added.
