RMG worker ‘gang-raped’ in Savar

A garment worker was reportedly gang-raped by four men including her boy friend in Hemayetpur area of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, last night.

Rahim Mia, 25, boy friend of the victim, 22, took her at a house in Tatuljhara area in assurance of giving some money last night, police said.

Reaching the house, she found three other youths in a room and then tried to come out of the house, police said quoting the victim as saying.

“But the four people including Rahim tied her hands and mouth with rope and cloth and raped her overnight,” said SM Kamruzzaman, officer in-charge of Ashulia Police Station.

The victim managed to flee the house this morning, the OC said adding that the victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for medical test.

“Police are trying to arrest the accused as a rape case has been filed over the incident,” he told our Savar correspondent.
