Rickshaw puller shot in Chawkbazar clash

A rickshaw puller was shot during a factional clash between two rival groups over establishing supremacy at Chawkbazar area of Dhaka this afternoon.

Victim Abdur Rahman, 20, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital with a bullet wound, said Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner (DC) of Lalbagh division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Sources said the rickshaw puller sustained a bullet injury in his left leg while he was crossing the area around 3:00pm.

Two local groups locked in the clash. Police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, the DC also said.

Police detained ten persons for interrogation, he added.
