Restore public trust in student politics

PM tells new BCL leaders

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked the new leadership of pro-Awami League student body Bangladesh Chhatra League to restore people's trust in student politics.

The AL chief made the call at a meeting with the new central BCL committee members at Gono Bhaban.

Applauding the BCL for successfully holding an election through transparent ballot boxes, Hasina asked the new committee to devote themselves to ensuring the public welfare and directed the new president, Saifur Rahman Sohag, and general secretary, SM Zakir Hossain to value the trust of other BCL members.

She also advised the outgoing BCL leaders to discharge their duties with utmost honesty and sincerity and reiterated that she would not harbour criminals.

Earlier, leaders of BCL's central committee, its DU unit, and its Dhaka city north and south units presented bouquets to the premier.

PM's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ex-BCL leaders including the immediate past president, HM Badiuzzaman Sohagh, were also present.
