'Charging of additional' admission fees at Ctg schools protested

Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) yesterday formed a human chain before Chittagong Press Club protesting “additional admission fees being taken in different schools in the city”.

Nurul Ajim Roni, general secretary of Chittagong city BCL, alleged that different schools are realising between Tk 8,000 and Tk 10,000 from new students as admission fees but the government through a gazette notification instructed the private schools not to realise over Tk 3,000 for admission fees.

Some schools are realising from Tk 2,000 to Tk 2,500 from incumbent students as re-admission fees although the government strictly prohibited the school authorities from taking even a single penny for re-admission, he added.

They also demanded that the school authorities return the money they already took from guardians.
