Rajuk shuts thirteen more establishments

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) yesterday shut down different establishments including six restaurants, a hotel and six shops for operating those illegally in Dhanmondi and Gulshan.

Rajuk also asked a university, a school and a hospital in Dhanmondi to remove their structures.

A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Md Nasir Uddin conducted the drive on Road-5, 6 and 11 in Dhanmondi.

Authorised Officer of Zone 5 of Rajuk ASM Shafiul Hannan said they shut the six shops, three restaurants and two NGO offices on Road No-5 in Dhanmondi.

He said they asked the authorities of Eastern University, Paedihope Hospital and Lakehead Grammar School to remove their buildings operated illegally. Gas and electricity connections of the school were disconnected, he said.

Meanwhile, another mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Khandaker Aliour Rahman closed down three restaurants and the hotel on Road No-2, 7 and 8 in Gulshan-1.

It also disconnected the utility service lines of a motor showroom and dismantled an illegal ramp of a house in the area.

According to Rajuk, a total of 342 restaurants, 62 hotels and guesthouses, 16 bars, 56 schools, 3 colleges, 23 universities, 50 hospitals and medical centres have been operating illegally in Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara.

Earlier, the government has issued notices to 13,000 commercial establishments in residential areas under city corporations across the country.
