Rajshahi man shown arrested in war crime case

The International Crimes Tribunal yesterday showed a Rajshahi man arrested in a war crimes case for allegedly committing crimes during the Liberation War in 1971.

Abdus Samad Musa alias Firoz Kha, 65, of Putia upazila in the district was shown arrested following a petition moved by Prosecutor Zahid Imam.

Zahid Imam told the tribunal that investigation in the case began on December 11 last year and investigation officer of the case have already found his involvement in at least two incidents of killings committed in 1971.

Musa was arrested on Sunday in connection with a criminal case filed in November last year and now in Rajshahi jail. He needs to be shown arrested in this case for the sake of proper investigation, he said.

The tribunal fixed March 20 for passing next order in the case.

Imam later told this correspondent that Musa was a listed Razakar, an auxiliary force of the Pakistani army, in Putia upazila in 1971.
