Rajshahi hunger strike against extra holding tax on Jan 14

Nagorik Odhikar Songrokkhon Sangram Parishad will observe mass hunger strike on January 14 at Sonadighi intersection in Rajshahi city demanding withdrawal of additional holding tax imposed by Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).

At a press conference at its office at Sonadighi intersection, Enamul Haque, convener of the Parishad, comprised of 13 organisations of professionals, including lawyers and businessmen, yesterday claimed that RCC has increased various fees, including trade license and signboard installation fees, up to 20 times since last April.

Haque threatened to wage tougher movements if their demands are not met within February.
