Rajshahi 'dowry' victim gives statement

A young woman hospitalised nearly two weeks back with fractures all over her body gave a statement to a Rajshahi court yesterday accusing her husband of causing the injuries with a metal pipe on July 11 while demanding dowry.

Rihah Tasfia also stated that her husband Samiul Haque Soad beat her in their house in Rajshahi city's Dingadoba area in presence of his father, mother and two brothers, her lawyers told The Daily Star.

Brought from One Stop Crisis Center of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for the recording, she also told the court  that her family had earlier given Tk 1.50 lakh as dowry and her in-laws had been demanding more.

Police arrested Samiul after Tasfia's mother Hosne Ara filed a case .
