On the first day of the weekday commuters have been suffering immensely in the traffic on different routes of Dhaka owing to the final session of Awami League’s 20th national council today.

There are very few buses plying the routes from Jatrabari to Mohammadpur and Mirpur 10, our correspondent reports from the spot.

Many people were seen walking to their destinations at Shahbagh, Jatrabari and other roads due to lack of public vehicles in the city, he said.

Apart from this, bus drivers did not follow the usual routes in the capital as many roads were either blocked or diverted.

When asked, a driver replied that he did not know which route he would choose on his way to his destination.

Most educational institutes in the city have been declared closed fearing traffic on the streets.

One Sadeque Hossain alleged that he got on a bus from Jatrabari to go to Shahbagh but he had to get off the bus at Gulistan.

Sadeque wanted to go to Shahbagh for visiting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) as his child was ill.
