Project on adolescent health launched

Directorate General of Family Planning and Unicef Bangladesh jointly launched a project titled “Adolescent Health and Rights Enhancement through Innovation and System Strengthening” at a Dhaka hotel yesterday.

The project is to be implemented through government's health care services in Gazipur, Tangail, Khulna and Jamalpur, targeting over 11.44 lakh adolescent girls and boys.

Dr Riad Mahmud, health specialist of Unicef, said under this project the adolescent will get any health related information and they will be provided training on different activities.

Zahid Maleque, state minister for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Martine van Hoogstraten, charge d'affaires of the Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka, and Edouard Beigbeder, Unicef representative in Bangladesh, were among others, present.
