Prof Yunus speaks at Japan Science Congress

Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus has underscored the need for designing scientific research in the light of what would be the ultimate desired shape of human society.

He made the remarks while delivering his keynote speech on Friday at the opening session of the two-day Japan Science Congress organised by Japan Science Technology Agency (JST), said a Yunus Centre release yesterday.

Prof Yunus asked the scientists to rethink of the goal of research in science and technology and also the application of the research output.

JST expressed its interest in working with Yunus Centre to develop and adapt technologies for social businesses to resolve human problems. Follow-up meetings will be held soon to work out the framework of this collaboration.

Prof Yunus also discussed collaboration with Business University of Japan and Telecom Foundation.
