Prof Arefin resumes duties at dept

Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique has returned to the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) after serving as VC for eight and a half years.

Teachers and students of the department welcomed him when he reached there at 12:00 noon yesterday.

From now on, he will conduct classes and participate in regular academic programmes of the department regularly, reads a press release of the department.

He had been elected the  president of Dhaka University Teachers' Association for three consecutive times and had been the convener of the pro-AL “Blue Panel” for several times.

The term of Prof Arefin, who was elected VC on August 25, 2013, ended on August 24 this year. Earlier, on January 17, 2009, he assumed the office as the 27th VC on temporary appointment.
