Probe body gets two more days to submit report

The deputy commissioner of Narayanganj yesterday granted two more days for the investigation committee to submit its report on January 16 clash between the supporters of city Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy and local Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman.

The deadline was extended for the second time after January 24. The extension came following an appeal from the committee members, according to the district administration.

“We need to take statements from several witnesses like police, journalists and political activists,” Narayanganj Additional Deputy Commissioner Jashim Uddin Haider, also the head of the committee, told the media yesterday.

“That's why, we sought time for two more days.”
