Pro-AL leader shot in capital

Miscreants shot a ward-level leader of Awami Swechchhasebak League in the capital's Mohakhali area yesterday.

Didar Hossain Sajib, 35, was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital from National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital. Later, he was taken to a clinic with bullet wounds in his chest and head, said police.     

Sajib, also a contractor, is the president candidate of the organisation's ward no-20 unit, said his brother Zahidul Islam.

Zahidul said two youths, who are known to his brother, stopped him at Mohakhali Dakkhinpara around 4:00pm while returning home on a motorcycle. At one point,  Zahidul said the miscreants shot his brother.
