When SSC examinees walk into the hall, most of them are usually a bundle of nerves, and all efforts are taken to ensure there is no distraction.

The government even issues section 144 around the SSC examination center for providing the examinees with sound atmosphere. No cars are allowed inside. Even government officials cannot go inside when the examinations are going on.

The examinees, a center secretary and invigilators are allowed inside an examination hall.

But the scene at the Azimpur Government Girls School and College was different today. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education today arranged a workshop to be attended by 327 college principals from all over the country from 9:30 am.

The students were sitting for “Bangladesh o Biswa Porichoy” (Bangladesh studies and introduction to world) examination at the same venue starting at 10:00 am.

On invitation, the reporters including The Daily Star correspondent entered the venue to cover the workshop when the examination ended around 1:00 pm.

Asked why the programme was being held here during the SSC exams, the Director General of the directorate Professor Dr SM Wahiduzzaman said, “All the cars entered the venue before the exam started. None of us went near the halls so that the students do not face any hassle.”

Answering to another query on the choice of location, he said, “We face a shortage of big enough auditoriums, therefore we arranged it here.”

The Education Minister, Nurul Islam Nahid is scheduled to attend the workshop at 2:30 pm.
