Pranab leaves Dhaka

Former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee yesterday left Dhaka after wrapping up his five-day private visit.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam saw him off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, among others.

Pranab arrived here on Sunday. During his visit, the former Indian premier met President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He attended a special convocation ceremony at Chittagong University where the CU authorities honoured him with a Doctor of Letters (D. Litt) degree.

He attended a number of programmes, including the closing session of the “International Bengali Literature Conference” in the capital.

Pranab's daughter Sharmista Mukherjee, among others, accompanied him.
