Police 'weighing' info on Banani murder

Police investigating the murder of a recruiting agency owner in the capital's Banani are yet to arrest any killers although they circulated video footage of four attackers captured in CCTV cameras.

“We have received some information following circulation of the images of the killers. We are now verifying the information,” Rafiqul Islam, assistant commissioner of Gulshan zone police, told The Daily Star yesterday. He, however, declined to give details for the sake of investigation.

Four gunmen entered the office of Munshi Overseas in a four-storey building in Banani on Tuesday and gunned down Siddik Hossen Munshi, the owner of the agency.

The attackers also shot three of his staff Mostak Hossain, Mokhlesur Rahman Muslehuddin and Miraz Parvez who are now undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

Meanwhile, the victim's wife Josna Begum yesterday said a sacked recruiting agent from Tangail might be behind the murder of her husband.

She said her husband had sacked the agent a couple of years back as his performance was not up to the mark. “Since then the agent had been asking for Tk 20 lakh from Siddik as dues. He was also issuing threats to my husband.”
