Inspector General of Police Mohammad Javed Patwary today said their main duty is to make a place in the heart of people.

“We have to remove the fear about police from people’s mind,” the IGP said while addressing the 44th raising day programme of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at the Rajarbagh Police Lines today.

“If we can gain people’s confidence and trust only then our hard work will be paid off,” the police boss said.

The programme was also addressed by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Public Security Division Secretary of Home Ministry Mostafa Kamal Uddin and DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia.

Earlier, officials of DMP brought out a raising day procession from DMP headquarters premises which ended at Rajarbagh Police Lines.

The home minister said they have been struggling to manage traffic in the city as construction works for metro rail, expressway and Bus Rapid Transit projects are going on in full swing. “The traffic problems will soon be over after the project works are implemented,” he added.
