Owner of car recovered from Gazipur river still traceless

Police have yet to trace the owner of the car they recovered from Shitalakkhya River in Kapashia of Gazipur on Thursday.

A general diary was filed with Kapashia Police Station in this connection yesterday, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique.

The OC said as per the registration number of the car, they found out the name of a person who lives in the capital's Mirpur. But when they went to the address, they did not find anyone by that name, he added.

The vehicle was discovered by some locals while catching fish in the river. The moss-covered Toyota Land Cruiser Prado [Dhaka Metro Gha-11-2029] was fished out of the river by the police with the help of locals.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority Secretary Showkat Ali said the vehicle could be four to five years old. Usually, these types of vehicles are bought for different government projects or by high-profile businessmen, he added.
