One to die for Comilla siblings' murder

A court yesterday handed down death penalty to a man for killing two siblings in Comilla in 2008.

The death sentence was awarded to Sheikh Farid, 28, son of Abul Hashem of Hasiara village of Nangalkot upazila.

Additional District and 4th Session Judge Nur Nahar Begum Shiuly passed the order.

Sheikh Farid and two slain sibling's father Seru Mia were employed as security guard of Rajar Ma dighi at Choddogram upazila.

According to the records, the deceased Abdul Karim, 12, and Jakir Hossain, 10 were strangled to death by Farid on 23rd of February 2008 suspecting that they stole Tk 100 from his pocket. Farid hid the bodies in a bush of a grave yard on south side of Rajar Ma Dighi at Bijoypur village in the same upazila.

A murder case was filed by Seru Mia with Choddogram Police Station accusing Farid.

The investigation officer Inspector Mostafizur Rahman and Sub-inspector Sukkur of Choddogram Police Station submitted the charge sheet against Sheikh Farid on 05th May 2008.
