Obituary

Joyapati, younger daughter of philanthropist Ranada Prasad Saha, passed away while undergoing treatment at Barnet General Hospital in London yesterday, aged 84.

Born in Mirzapur of Tangail in 1932, Joyapati left behind her husband, a daughter and a son. She was former managing director of the Kumudini Welfare Trust and principal of Bharateswari Homes in Mirzapur.

She took responsibility of the Kumudini Welfare Trust after the Pakistani occupation army abducted Ranada Prasad Saha and his son Bhabani Prasad Saha from their Narayanganj residence on May 7, 1971.
