NPP chief Shawkat Hossain Nilu dies

National People's Party (NPP) Chairman Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu died at a hospital in Dhaka tonight. He was 65.

He breathed his last at 10:30pm at Square Hospital, a customer service officer of the hospital told The Daily Star.

He left behind his wife, two daughters, relatives, friends and well wishers to mourn his death.

Earlier, he was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after he fell sick seriously. As his condition was deteriorated, he had been kept under life support for the past two days.

Family sources said one of Nilu's daughters lives in Australia. After her arrival, the NPP leader will be buried.

Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu was born at Sheikh family at Tungipara in Gopalganj district.
