No doubt over filling vacant quota posts from merit list

Dispelling the confusion raised over Tuesday's gazette issued by public administration ministry, its Senior Secretary Mozammel Haque Khan yesterday said the vacant posts in government jobs would be filled up from the merit list if eligible candidates are not found under any quota.

"There is no chance for misunderstanding. Many might think that the freedom fighter quota has been reformed due to this decision. But this is not right," he told reporters at the secretariat. The quotas have been reserved and would remain so, he said.

The decision came amid protests by students of public universities and job aspirants demanding reform of the quota system.
