Nine held for leaking exam questions

Detectives on Sunday arrested nine people, including three college teachers, in Dhaka and Jessore in connection with HSC and other exams' questions leak.

In Dhaka, three teachers of a Demra college, Nazmul, Hasan and Kamrul, were arrested for their involvement with a gang which used to swindle HSC examinees by offering them to improve their grades or leak questions in exchange for money.

They were arrested on the basis of a confessional statement given by their ringleader Raihan Chowdhury who along with five others was arrested on July 15, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam at a press conference yesterday. Raihan used to contact HSC examinees on Facebook through an account named after American crime thriller writer Dan Brown. Police learnt about the group when about 10 students, each of whom paid different amounts, filed complaints.

Meanwhile, police arrested Suman Ahmed, Rahman, Rahman alias Liton, SM Tanvir Alam alias Rizvi, Johny Rahman and Arafat Hossain with question papers of the semester final exam of a private polytechnic institute in Jessore which is scheduled for August 12.

Police also seized a tablet computer and six smart phones which they used for leaking and distributing questions using the internet.
