Youth sent to jail over rape of 10-yr-old girl

A Narayanganj court yesterday sent a youth to jail on charge of raping a 10-year-old girl. The accused is Md Rakib Miah (22), who used to live in a rented house near the girl's home.

Police said the victim went out of her room on January 9 night, when Rakib forcibly took her to his room and raped her.At one stage, she fell unconscious, and Rakib fled the scene. 

The girl's family started searching for her, and a few hours later, rescued her from Rakib's room. She was then taken to Narayanganj General Hospital.

A day later, the victim's father filed a rape case against Rakib, said Zakir Hossain, SI of Fatullah Model Police Station.

Police arrested Rakib yesterday. In primary interrogation, he admitted to raping the girl.
