A youth has been hospitalised after he was attacked with sharp weapon and sticks allegedly by his neighbours four days ago in Mymensingh.
With injuries in the shoulder, waist and ankle, Md Shahidul Islam (25) from the city's Char Gobindapur is undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), family sources said.
Shahidul, a motorbike rider on hire, filed a case with Kotwali Police Station accusing four of a family on Saturday night, police said.
Quoting the case statement, Officer-in-Charge Md Firoz Talukder said one Khairul Islam (30), an alleged drug peddler, had an altercation with Shahidul as recently he refused to give Khairul a lift. Since then, Khairul had been threatening to kill Shahidul.
On Thursday morning, Khairul hacked the motorcyclist indiscriminately while he was passing through a speed breaker near the former's house in Bepari Bari of Char Gobindapur, said the OC.
Later, Khairul's brother Masum (32), father Hossain Ali (55) and mother Mazeda Khatun (50) also attacked Shahidul with sticks, he added.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot and took the victim to MMCH, said the OC.
The police officer said they are trying to arrest the four attackers who are on the run.
