39th BCS (SPECIAL)

Writ petition seeks cancellation of MCQ test

A writ petition was filed with the High Court yesterday seeking cancellation of 39th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) (special) preliminary examination on allegations of mistakes in the question paper.

Twenty-two candidates, who failed the screening test held on August 3, jointly submitted the petition and prayed to the HC to stay the viva-voce scheduled to be held from October 10 to 26.

There were seven mistakes in the question paper, Advocate Md Eunus Ali Akond, the petitioners’ counsel said.

It was found that either none of the four options were correct, or three out of four were right, the lawyer said.

According to relevant rules, only one correct answer should be mentioned among four options for every question, he added.

Doctors with MBBS degrees were supposed to be recruited through the 39th BCS, but some non-MBBS were allowed to appear the exam, Advocate Eunus said citing the petition.

The HC might hold hearing on the petition on October 7.
