Woman’s body found in Sreepur

Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from a pond in Sreepur of Gazipur yesterday.

Locals saw the body, aged about 25, with a scarf tied to her neck at Kopatiapara under Maona union in the morning and informed police.

A team from Sreepur Police Station went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Preliminary investi-gations suggest that the woman was strangled to death at another place and later the body was dumped in the pond, said Zabedul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Investigation is ongoing and police are trying to determine her identity, he added.
