Woman killed in road accident

A woman was killed and her brother-in-law injured in a road accident on Kishoreganj-Khilpara road in Khilpara area  yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Jannatul Ferdous Urmi, 19, wife of Al Jaber Baten of Uttar Payrabhanga area in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila, said Abu Bakar Siddiq, officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj Police Station.  The accident took place when a human haulier hit a motorbike Urmi and her brother-in-law Abu Obaida were riding on, leaving the woman dead on the spot, the police official said quoting locals.

Abu sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kishoreganj General Hospital by locals, while Urmi's body was sent to the hospital for an autopsy.

The driver managed to flee with the vehicle, the OC said, adding, a case was lodged in this connection.
