Husband arrested
A woman was found dead in her house in Rishipara area of Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Rupa Rani Das, 20, daughter of Gobinda Das from Nitaiganj area of Narayanganj City.
Police recovered the body upon information from neighbours, said Sub-inspector Mostafizur Rahman of Araihazar Police Station. Her husband, 30-year-old Sajeeb Das, was arrested in connection with the incident.
The SI quoted locals as saying that Rupa married Sajeeb three years ago, and the couple often engaged in conflict.
Sajeeb and Rupa had a fight on Saturday night, the SI said, adding that they suspect he might have suffocated her with a pillow at the time.
Police sent the body to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said SI Mostafizur.
He said the cause behind death would be confirmed after autopsy. Filing of a case is underway, he added.
