Woman dies in fire

A woman died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Wednesday, hours after she sustained burn injuries in a fire at her house in Joynabari area of Savar.

The deceased is Rina Begum, 40.

Around 3am on the day, hearing her screams, family members rushed to her room and rescued a severely burnt Rina, said police.

Her husband took her to the hospital but soon after her death, he went into hiding, they added.

Rina's sister alleged that her husband, who used to torture her, poured kerosene on her and then took her to the hospital as cover-up.

AMF Sayeed, OC of Savar Police Station, said they are looking into the matter.
