Updated drainage management action plan for Dhaka to be finalised next week: LGRD minister

A meeting between two Dhaka city corporations next week will finalise a drainage management action plan to reduce water-logging in the capital, said Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mohammad Tajul Islam today.

The city corporations would be able to work better than Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) as the responsibility was handed over to the city corporations, said Tajul at the "Bill Collection Award 2019-2020" at Dhaka WASA Bhaban in the capital, said a press release.

Dhaka WASA Managing Director Taksim A Khan presided over the programme. Dhaka WASA Chairman Dr Golam Mostafa and Local Government Additional Secretary Mohammad Ibrahim were present as special guests.

"Work has already begun after handing over the city's drainage system from Dhaka WASA to the two city corporations, but the ministry will work to finalise an action plan with the two city corporations next week," the minister said.
