UN Women opens centre for Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar

UN Women on Wednesday inaugurated a new multi-purpose women's centre in Cox's Bazar to provide beneficial information of different services for Rohingya women.

It is the second multi-purpose women's centre launched by UN Women in the district, said a press release.

The centre will provide information among the Rohingya women about health, protection issues and gender-based violence.

It will also train them on leadership, develop life skills and increase livelihoods. The centre will also be used as a shelter in case of disasters.

The centre, which is almost three times bigger than the first one, was built with the funds from the Sweden government, UN Women's national committees of Australia, Japan and Sweden.

Over 15,000 women and girls have benefited through the first similar kind of multi-purpose centre in Balukhali since January 2018.
