Two teens raped in Narayanganj

Two teenage girls were raped in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj on Tuesday, said police.

Md Barek, sub-inspector of Bandar Police Station, said one of the victims filed a case with the police station early yesterday naming five accused.

Police arrested four yesterday from Islambagh area of the upazila, he added.

The arrestees are: Sifat Hossain (18) from Siddhirganj; Shakib Hossain (24) from Islambagh; Sifat Hossain (21) from Kushiara; and Naeem Mia (24) from Islampur.

Barek, also the case's investigating officer, told The Daily Star that the two girls went to hang out with the five accused on Tuesday afternoon.

Later, they all went to Shakib's house in the evening, where the teenagers were raped by two of the accused, he added.

Both the girls informed their family members about the incident later that night and one of them filed a case against the five accused around 2am yesterday, he said.

Dipak Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station, said the two victims have been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for medical examination.

After the arrestees admitted to the crime during initial interrogation by police, they were sent to the court yesterday afternoon for recording confessional statements under Section 164, the OC added.
